2023 Chardonnay from Santa Lucia Highlands - Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Chardonnays can be aged in stainless steel or variety of oak barrels, all of which greatly change the perception of the wine on your palate. This 2022 version is full of tropical fruits and asian pear with hints of white peach. Aged in French Oak and American Oak with just a touch of malic acid remaining. It has bright fruit with a bit of creaminess that lingers on the finish. This wine tends to disappear very quickly before dinner hits the table. This wine pairs beautifully with Roast Chicken, Steamed Mussels, Salmon and floating down a lazy river.
2023 Roussane from Calaveras - Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Val du Vino's very first vintage of this beautiful varietal and we knocked it out of the park. Slightly floral on the nose with hints of bright stone fruit and rounded out with nice citrus notes.
One of our favorite blends to make each year. The Three Cousins - Syrah, Petitie Sirah and Mourvedre - shows layers of complexity in this vintage's blend that we are thrilled with. With 20 months in a blend of French and American oak barrels, it is bound to continue to impress!
